This article helps you message your class's families, post class announcements and share files and links.

Before you start

  • Open your class from My classes. The buttons below are at the top of the class page.

Message your class

  1. Click Message my class.
  2. Type your Message (up to 5,000 characters) and click Post to class.
  3. It posts in the class's Discussion, where families can reply.

Post a class announcement

  1. Click New announcement.
  2. Check the Class, add a Title and Message, and add Attachments if you need them.
  3. To email it too, turn on Also email the families in this class (sent from LearningSense). Off means app only.
  4. Click Post Announcement.
  1. Open the Materials tab and click Add material.
  2. Pick File upload, Link or Video (a YouTube or Vimeo link).
  3. Choose the Classes it is for, add the file (File (max 25 MB)) or URL, a Title and a Description (optional).
  4. Turn on the email switch if families should get an email, then click Add Material.

Message one family

Go to Messages and click New message. You can message your director, other staff and families with a child in one of your classes.

What happens next

Families see announcements and materials on the class page right away. Emails go out only when you turned the switch on. Families also get an email when you message them directly. Each parent can turn off announcement, message and class material emails in their own settings, so important news should also go on the class page.

Common problems

  • Can't find a family in New message? You can only message families with a child in your classes.
  • File too big? Materials and message attachments can be up to 25 MB. Announcement attachments are up to 3 files, 10 MB each.
  • Posted to the wrong class? Message your director to remove it.
  • A family replied in the discussion? You see it in Messages under Class discussions too.
  • Get started as a teacher
  • Messages and announcements
  • Post, grade and return assignments
