Set up your program in your first hour

This article walks you through setup, from a new account to your first family.

Before you start

  • You signed up as a director. Every new program starts with a 14-day free trial of the Grow plan, no card needed.
  • Have your semester (or session) dates, class list and fees handy.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings → Program profile. Pick your program type (Homeschool co-op, Mother's Day Out or Parents Day Out, or Micro-school), check your Program name, State and Time zone, then click Save changes.
  2. Open Today. The Getting started checklist shows five steps. Click Open → next to each one.
  3. Create your first semester: enter the name, dates and registration window, then click Save and add classes.
  4. Add your classes (or rooms): add each class with its days, times, grades, size and fee, then click Save class.
  5. Connect your bank account: on How families pay, click Set Up Payments and finish the Stripe steps. If you only take cash or check, choose Offline and this step goes away.
  6. Set your billing schedule: on Grow and Thrive, pick the day families are billed each month. On Free and Sprout these fields are locked. Click Save Payment Settings → to save the page.
  7. Invite your families: on Families & students, click Invite families and copy your link, or click Add a family.
  8. When you are ready, go back to your semester and click Open registration.

What happens next

Each step gets a check mark when it is done. When all five are done, the checklist closes itself. You can also close it any time with the ×. Families who accept your invite can sign in and register their children once registration is open.

Common problems

  • Open registration is grayed out? Payments must be set up first. Connect Stripe, or choose Offline on How families pay.
  • The billing schedule step won't check off? It needs Stripe connected (unless you chose Offline), and you need to save How families pay once.
  • Can't email invites? Typed-in email invites need the Sprout plan. On Free, share your signup link instead.
  • Create a semester, session or term
  • Connect Stripe and choose online, offline or both
  • Add families: invite, signup link, add by hand, approve
