This article helps you pick your program type and the words LearningSense uses in menus and pages.
Before you start
- You are a director of the program.
Choose your program type
- Go to Settings → Program profile.
- Under Program type, click one card:
- Homeschool co-op: semesters, classes and teachers.
- Mother's Day Out or Parents Day Out: sessions, rooms and caregivers.
- Micro-school: terms, classes and teachers.
- It saves right away. You see Saved. The menus and pages now use these words.
Change single words
- On the same page, scroll to Words we use and find Customize.
- For each row (A block of the year, A group kids join, The adult leading it, What you call your program), click a ready-made choice or Your own….
- If you pick Your own…, type the word for one and for more than one (up to 30 characters each).
- Click Save my words. You see Your words are saved.
What happens next
Everyone (you, teachers and families) sees your words in menus and pages. Emails still use the standard words for now. Changing words never deletes anything, and routes, data and permissions stay the same.
Your program type card shows Mixed with your own words. Click to go back to these. when you have custom words. Click the card to go back to its standard words.
Common problems
- The customize buttons are grayed out? Custom words may not be turned on for your program yet. Pick a program type instead.
- A tool you need is missing after you switch type? Check Settings → Tools and turn on what your program uses.
- Emails still say semester and class? That is expected for now.
