Discounts and credits

This article shows you how to give a multi-kid discount, set a standing credit for one family, and choose whether a fee is per family or per child.
Plan: All plans. Standing credits work with monthly tuition on Grow and Thrive.
Before you start
- You are the program's owner (discount settings live under How families pay).
Turn on the multi-kid discount
- Go to Settings → How families pay and find Multi-kid discount.
- Check Turn on the multi-kid discount.
- Choose what it applies to: Semester / registration fee, One-time class fees, Supply fees or Monthly tuition.
- Type the percent off for each child (2nd child, 3rd child and so on) and click Save on that row. Use + Add tier to add the next child.
- To use different tiers for one semester, edit that semester and, under Multi-kid discount, pick Custom for this semester or No discount this semester.
Give one family a standing credit
- Open the family from Families & students and click Standing discount.
- Under Standing adjustment, pick Percent or Flat $ and type the amount.
- Type the label families see on the invoice, such as Volunteer credit, and click Save adjustment.
Charge per family or per child
When you create a semester (or session), set Semester fee basis to Per child or Per family.
What happens next
- The multi-kid discount lowers the price on each invoice line it applies to. The line shows the original price and a note with the percent off.
- A standing credit applies to that family's monthly invoices until you click Remove. It never takes an invoice below $0. A family has one standing adjustment at a time.
- Families always pay exactly the invoice total.
Common problems
- The discount didn't change a semester fee? Discounts on the semester fee don't apply when that fee is charged per family.
- A standing credit didn't show on an invoice? It applies only to monthly tuition invoices, not enrollment checkout or invoices you create by hand.
- Changed the discount on monthly tuition? It affects every monthly invoice from now on, so check the next invoices when you review them.
